William “Bill” F. Semrad, 76 of Weston, NE, died Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 8, 1939 in Rescue, NE to William and Erma (Novak) Semrad. Bill graduated from Weston High School in 1958. On June 13, 1964, he was united in marriage to Linda L. Nelson at Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo. Through the years Bill worked for Durand’s Body Shop, Don Cerny, he owned and operated Bill Semrad Body and Paint for over 25 years, COOP, and OOP Inc.
Bill was a member of Edensburg Lutheran Church, past member of the Weston School Board, Weston Fire Department, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He loved fishing, boating, camping, hunting, polka music, gardening, bowling, and especially spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by children: William “Billy” G. (Sharon) Semrad of Weston, Rhonda (Russell) Andresen of Wahoo, and Bradley Semrad and fiancé Julie Kahler of Weston; grandchildren: Ambrey Semrad of Wahoo, Jason Semrad of Wahoo, Raegan Andresen of Wahoo; step-grandchildren: Nicole Fittro of Wahoo, Jeremy Andresen of Ashland, Rusty (Kristin) Andresen of Lincoln; great-grandchildren: Braelyn Anderson; step-great-grandchildren: Lizzylee Bartlet, Jade, Jacob, and Wyatt Andresen; brother Gary (Kathy) Semrad of Wahoo; brother-in-law Thomas Vanderpool; sisters-in-law: Barbara Semrad of Wahoo, Fern Jansa, of Weston, Joyce Kucera of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife Linda Lu Semrad; parents William and Erma Semrad; brother Elmer Semrad; sister Shirley Vanderpool; brothers-in-law: Don Jansa and Don Kucera; nephew Tommy Vanderpool; parents-in-law Gordon and Sylvia Nelson.
Our deepest sympathies to Billy, Brad and Rhonda and families. We will never forget all of the camping trips with our Weston families. I can only hope those memories can bring a little bit of happiness to such a difficult time. Jeff and Stacy Woita
